We are excited to welcome Angela Kennecke, a news anchor from KELO-TV to Boyden on May 15 at 7:00pm at the Demco Center. She will share the heartbreaking story of her daughter's death from a fentanyl overdose. This event is sponsored by the Boyden Public Library, State Opioid Response Grant, Premier Communications and Compass Pointe. Please make plans to attend this special event.



Spring Story Hour at the Library!
Dates are Tuesday mornings OR Tuesday nights April 2, 9 and 23 9:30AM-10:15AM OR 6:30pm-7:15pm.  All 3-6 years old are welcome!  Please sign up at the library! Any questions please free free to ask.

Scavenger Hunt….Kids make sure to check out our weekly scavenger hunt at the library. The first 2 weeks in April will be a National Library Week theme and then the last 2 weeks will be an Easter theme. Small prizes will be awarded.

Celebrate National Library Week April 7-13!
To thank our patrons, we will have the coffee on and goodies available on Tuesday, April 9 from 1:30 – 3:00. Come and help us celebrate National Library Week!

Lego Day…we are doing just one day this month. Wednesday, April 10. All 1st - 8th graders are welcome to come to the library and use your imagination with legos after school. 2:45pm-4:00. Snack will be provided.

Read to Me “Leeme cuentos” Thursday, April 11 at 6:15pm A special Easter-themed story time in Spanish! We will be reading a book in Spanish, doing an activity and having a snack. This story hour will be geared towards children who are in preschool (ages 3-6) and who speak Spanish or are bilingual. If you have any questions please call Jessica Diaz at 712-541-8650.

Club 56 will be held at 3:45 pm on April 15th. Club 56 is a club for all 5th and 6th grade girls.

The Boyden Book Club is reading “The Life We Bury” by Allen Eskens this month. The monthly book club meeting is April 15, 2019 at 7:00pm in the library. New members are always welcome!


Wednesday, May 8 will be the Summer Reading Program sign up at the library. More details will be coming in the near future.

***Keep in mind we have many online services for your reading enjoyment. Whether it be Tumblebooks (online animated books for kids) Zinio (online magazines) or Bridges (online e-books and audio books) we have you covered! See below!

***Do you sometimes forget when the next book club is, or when the next story time is? We are hoping this awesome new offering at the library will help you stay connected. We, at the Boyden Public Library, are now signed up with Remind. This program will send you texts reminding you of upcoming events at the library. We have info at the library on how to sign up for it or follow these directions. Please ask if you have any questions!

***Reminder to parents....please be familiar with our library hours and make sure that when it is closing time your child has been picked up. Thank you for your consideration.

***Volunteers please...Is there anyone who would be willing to donate snacks to the library when we have after school programs? These snacks could be homemade or bought. Please let us know if you have questions or if you are interested in helping your library! Thank you!



 What is BRIDGES: Iowa's e-Library?   

This is a new E-book and Audiobook Consortium for Iowa Libraries to provide you with over 16,500 e-books and 7,500 audiobooks.  You can download the e-books with your library card number. This Bridges Site is also has the name OVERDRIVE in the app stores.
