Library Guidelines

-If you are ill or have any symptoms of illness, do not enter the library.

-Please return your materials to the drop box.

-Sanitize your hands before entering the library.

-Number of people allowed in the library at any time is 10.

-Patrons should limit their time in the library to 30 minutes.

-Social distance yourself in the library.

-Please be aware our drinking fountains remain closed. Restrooms are open.

 



 

Library News & Events

Club 56 (program for 5th and 6th grade girls) will be meeting right after school on Monday, March 17.

Boyden Book Club.  The Book Club is reading “The Mother’s Promise” this month.  The monthly book discussion will be held on March 17, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library.  Please let us know if you need a copy of the book.

Jenna from the Iowa State Extension Office will be coming to the library on Tuesday, March 23 (3:45pm-4:30pm) Recommended ages for this event is K-4 th grade. Jenna will be using STEM Lit To-Go curriculum. She’ll read the kids the book, A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee by Chris VanDusen and then kids will do a STEM activity together involving marshmallow launchers. Registration is required so that we can plan accordingly. Sign-up sheet is in the library. Thanks!

Spring Story Hour at the Library! Dates are Monday, March 29 at 6:30pm OR Tuesday, March 30 at 9:30am and Monday, April 5 at 6:30pm OR Tuesday, April 6 at 9:30am. All 3-6 years old are welcome!  Please sign up at the library. We have a great time listening to books, playing games and meeting new friends. Any questions please feel free to ask!

Weather…It’s that time of the year again when the weather can change suddenly and the roads get slick and snow covered. If the library needs to be closed due to weather we will post it on our Facebook page and on KIWA.

***E-books Did you receive a new device to enjoy the gift of reading? Make sure to use the library’s apps, Libby(Bridges) and Tumblebooks to access the library from anywhere at any time with your library card. Stop in the library if you need help.

***Do we have your correct addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses on file? Don’t be surprised if we check with you while you check out at the library. Feel free to contact us with your current contact information!

***Keep in mind we have many online services for your reading enjoyment. Whether it be Tumblebooks (online animated books for kids) Zinio (online magazines) or Bridges (online e-books and audio books) we have you covered! See below!

***Did you know that the Library has a number of services to help our community members of all ages?

***Do you sometimes forget when the next book club is, or when the next story time is? We are hoping this awesome new offering at the library will help you stay connected. We, at the Boyden Public Library, are now signed up with Remind. This program will send you texts reminding you of upcoming events at the library. We have info at the library on how to sign up for it or follow these directions. Please ask if you have any questions!

***Reminder to parents....please be familiar with our library hours and make sure that when it is closing time your child has been picked up. Thank you for your consideration.

***Volunteers please...Is there anyone who would be willing to donate snacks to the library when we have after school programs? These snacks could be homemade or bought. Please let us know if you have questions or if you are interested in helping your library! Thank you!

 What is BRIDGES: Iowa's e-Library?   

This is a new E-book and Audiobook Consortium for Iowa Libraries to provide you with over 16,500 e-books and 7,500 audiobooks.  You can download the e-books with your library card number. This Bridges Site is also has the name OVERDRIVE in the app stores.
