Welcome! We invite you to spend a few moments looking at our library Website. With help from the State Library of Iowa, we are able to create a place on the Web where you, our customers, can explore, learn and get help with all your information needs.

Library News & Events



Thursday, September 6 from 6:30pm-8:00pm-Veg Out-Explore garden produce: How to choose it, store it and prepare it. Tips for including vegetables (and fruits) into meals and snacks. Includes knife skills and tasting! Presented by Renee Sweers, Nutrition and Wellness Specialist, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Please call the library to register. This program is FREE and hands on. Come join us!

Lego Club for Kids. Ages 1st grade-8th grade. First time for the new school year will be Tuesday, September 11 from 3:45-4:45pm or Wednesday, September 12 from 2:45-3:45pm. Space is limited and please call ahead to get your child registered. If your child wants a snack, please send that along with him or her. Please ask if you have questions!

Club 56! Monday, September 17 will be our first Club 56 program for the school year. Girls typically walk to the library right after school and can be picked up by 4:45pm. Club 56 is for girls in the 5th and 6th grade. We meet monthly and do a variety of fun projects as well as building self-esteem and friendships. All are welcome! Please sign-up in the library.

The Boyden Book Club is reading “Redeeming Love” this month. The Book Club meets at 7:00pm in the library on Monday, September 17.

Curious George… Somebody is having a birthday and it is Curious George! We will be having two story times on Tuesday, September 18 to celebrate. Choose between 9:30 AM or 6:30 PM. We will have fun reading books about Curious George, playing a game and making a craft. All kids ages 3-6 are welcome to attend. Please sign up at the library.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month. If you haven’t visited the Boyden library, please do so! We offer a variety of old and new materials and provide a beautiful space to spend time. We offer programming for all ages! Please encourage your friends to “check out” our library! Everyone is welcome at the library!


Keep in mind we have many online services for your reading enjoyment. Whether it be Tumblebooks (online animated books for kids) Zinio (online magazines) or Bridges (online e-books and audio books) we have you covered! See below!



***Do you sometimes forget when the next book club is, or when the next story time is? We are hoping this awesome new offering at the library will help you stay connected. We, at the Boyden Public Library, are now signed up with Remind. This program will send you texts reminding you of upcoming events at the library. We have info at the library on how to sign up for it or follow these directions. Please ask if you have any questions!

 What is BRIDGES: Iowa's e-Library?   

This is a new E-book and Audiobook Consortium for Iowa Libraries to provide you with over 16,500 e-books and 7,500 audiobooks.  You can download the e-books with your library card number. This Bridges Site is also has the name OVERDRIVE in the app stores.
