We are excited to welcome Angela Kennecke, a news anchor from KELO-TV to Boyden on May 15 at 7:00pm at the Demco Center. She will share the heartbreaking story of her daughter's death from a fentanyl overdose. This event is sponsored by the Boyden Public Library, State Opioid Response Grant, & Premier Communications. Please make plans to attend this special event.

**2019 Summer Reading Program**

**Summer Reading Program Sign Up Day is Wednesday May 8 at the library from 2:30-5:30. There will be activities for the kids to do and calendars will be available for our program. If you are not able to make this date just let the library know and we will help get your child signed up!!  All children ages 4yr-4th grade are welcome to be a part of our program!!  Tell your friends!


**We are getting SUPER excited about our Summer Reading Program “A Universe of Stories.” We have many fun activities planned for the month of June starting with our kick-off on Tuesday, June 4 at 3:15. (The Hanson Family!!) 






Did you know that April 29-May 5 is the 100th anniversary of Children’s Book Week? I am sure many of you can think of a favorite children’s book that you read to your child or maybe it was read to you.  We will have many new books on display, and a fun scavenger hunt throughout the week. Check out our tables for some fun crafts to do.

Club 56 meets May 20 right after school. All 4th graders are invited as our special guests. Any questions please contact Shari at the library.

Boyden Book Club will meet Monday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the library. This month the Club is reading “Night Road” by Kristin Hannah. Please let us know if you need a copy of the book.



Do we have your correct addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses on file? Don’t be surprised if we check with you while you check out at the library. Feel free to contact us with your current contact information!



***Keep in mind we have many online services for your reading enjoyment. Whether it be Tumblebooks (online animated books for kids) Zinio (online magazines) or Bridges (online e-books and audio books) we have you covered! See below!

***Do you sometimes forget when the next book club is, or when the next story time is? We are hoping this awesome new offering at the library will help you stay connected. We, at the Boyden Public Library, are now signed up with Remind. This program will send you texts reminding you of upcoming events at the library. We have info at the library on how to sign up for it or follow these directions. Please ask if you have any questions!

***Volunteers please...Is there anyone who would be willing to donate snacks to the library when we have after school programs? These snacks could be homemade or bought. Please let us know if you have questions or if you are interested in helping your library! Thank you!



 What is BRIDGES: Iowa's e-Library?   

This is a new E-book and Audiobook Consortium for Iowa Libraries to provide you with over 16,500 e-books and 7,500 audiobooks.  You can download the e-books with your library card number. This Bridges Site is also has the name OVERDRIVE in the app stores.
